See the Giza Pyramids, view the mysterious Sphinx and explore the Egyptian Museum to see Tutankhamun’s funerary treasures, including his gold death mask. Pause for either a traditional Egyptian lunch, an open buffet or a meal at TGI Friday's, then fly back to Hurghada in the early evening. Enjoy personalized attention from your guide on this private tour.
Start your private tour with an early morning pickup from your centrally located Hurghada hotel, and travel to Hurghada International Airport by comfortable private minivan.
After a 1-hour (approx.) flight to Cairo, meet your guide at the airport and set off in a private, air-conditioned minivan around the Egyptian capital’s highlights. Complimentary mineral water is provided on board to keep you refreshed during your tour.
Soak up the views of Cairo’s fascinating streets and hear intriguing facts about the pyramids and Sphinx on route to Giza, a dusty desert plateau on the western edges of the city.
On arrival, make tracks for the mighty Sphinx, the human-headed lion statue that guards the pyramids. Hear the legends that surround the monument and, with your guide, ponder the different theories behind its strange, half-human form.
Walk up to the plateau and get a closer look at the three Giza Pyramids: Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure. Marvel at these gigantic tombs and learn how they were built in around 2550 BC to provide revered pharaohs with a safe passage to the afterlife.
Wonder at the 481-foot (147-meter) tall Cheops and view Khafre — distinctive for still bearing part of its outer casing — and the third tomb, Menkaure. Then, visit the Valley Temple of Khafre, a maze of ruins that was the entrance to the pyramids.
Afterward, break for a lunch at your choice of one of three restaurants, all with Nile views. Choose to enjoy an open buffet, a typical Egyptian lunch of grilled chicken or kebab, or a meal at a TGI Friday's.
Finish with a visit to the Egyptian Museum (The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, or Museum of Cairo). Stuffed with more than 250,000 ancient artifacts, this vast museum is a dream for anyone interested in ancient history. Gain fascinating insights into the exhibits from your guide and focus on the star turn: Tutankhamun’s treasures. Admire the boy king’s gold death mask and other possessions and hear how they lay undiscovered in his tomb for more than 3,500 years.
After a rewarding day, return to Cairo airport and fly back to Hurghada, where your tour ends with a private drop-off at your hotel.
